Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Graduate Medical Education Committee and the Chief Medical Officer, the Internal Medicine Program Director administers and maintains a residency program that is conducive to exceptional clinical learning and professional development. Direct involvement in patient care is crucial, to include continuous supervision, mentoring, and direct teaching of the residents. In addition to excellent clinical and leadership skills, the Program Director is responsible for the academic excellence and collaboration with marginalized communities, and possess knowledge of Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) policies, procedures and program requirements. The Program Director establishes the strategic direction of the Program and is responsible for the standards, quality and reputation of such. The Program Director is expected to support integration of the Internal Medicine Program with physician practices and hospital clinical services in a manner that enhances value and quality, and that promotes an optimal environment for professional practice and medical education.

Physicians for UHC, provide primary health care that includes health education, preventative care, along with diagnostic, therapeutic procedures, and teaching / mentoring of medical students, residents, and fellows.

To participate in the planning and management of health services of the United Health Centers as deemed by the Associate Medical Director and/or Chief Medical Officer. This is to include participation in review of the quality care being rendered at UHC, the development of health care protocols and procedures, and the participation in the development of policy making with the Medical Department.

 

 

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

* The basic degree required is the graduation from accredited university or school with a MD/DO degree.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

* Possess a valid CA Medical License

* Possess a current DEA Certification

* Valid Lifesaving Certification (BLS, ACLS)

* Valid Driver's License

* ABIM Board Certified

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

* ACGME Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of ACGME standards and gratuate medical education.

*Experience in research and academic medicine.

*Previous leadership roles, such as Associate Program Director, Chair of Clinical Competency Committee, Chair of Quality Improvement Committee.

PRIOR EXPERIENCE:

* 2 years + experience in a healthcare setting, preferable in an ambulatory care setting
